Was saddened…no heartbroken to learn of the passing of former Penn State Shenango Student/Athelte KJ – Kyle Jackson this afternoon.

KJ became a “regular” at our broadcast booth the past two years at Shenango Home Games. He would always greet my fellow broadcast partner James Dotson and I with fist bumps and big smiles. He would often stop by as he arrived at the gym to tell me a joke, or ask me if we’re going to Mic him up that night, and he always wanted to show me his shoes. KJ was fashionable, to the point when he was on the court he earned the nickname (from us) “Project Runway.”  I have to admit sometimes I don’t understand these things. I don’t understand why we lose people, truly kind and caring people like KJ.  My son asked me why I hugged him a little longer and tighter tonight…..I just told him it was for KJ. Prayers to his family, friends, and teammates.

Kyle Jackson’s life was filled with promise, talent, and a bright future. As the community grieves the loss of this young basketball star, we remember the joy he brought to the court and the impact he had on those around him. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. May his memory live on as a testament to his passion and dedication to the sport he loved.
