“It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t (have) been able to walk.”

Cowell noted that the crash was sudden and knew he’d broken his back immediately. He further explained the situation, saying:

“You’re not supposed to get up, but I made myself kind of get carried into my bedroom, which is right there at the end of the house, and I’m lying there and I’m kind of passing out. I mean, it was just was surreal.”

Thankfully, the situation didn’t play out as badly as it could, and Cowell recovered quite well. He also thanked his son Eric and wife Lauren Silverman for their part in nursing him back to health.
