Vince Vaughn’s Life Growing Up

Vince Vaughn was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to his parents, Vernon Vaughn and Sharon Vaughn, and his two older sisters, Victoria and Valeri Vaughn. In his early years, his family moved to Lake Forest, Illinois.

Vince Vaughn grew up fairly wealthy. His father was a salesman and character actor, and his mother was a real estate agent and stock broker. 

Vince was interested in the entertainment industry, specifically theatre, early on in his life. He was exposed to it early on because of his father’s work as a character actor. 

Furthermore, Vince Vaughn was raised both Protestant and Catholic. His mother was Roman Catholic and his father was Protestant, so the parents raised their kids in both denominations in the Christian faith.

Now, Vince Vaughn says, “I am a Catholic who does not go to church.” 

However, do not sell Vince Vaughn short on his good works, just because he does not regularly attend church.

Vince Vaughn’s Good Deeds

Vince Vaughn has been recognized as a charitable person, who enjoys sharing his wealth with other individuals who are less fortunate. 

For instance, he was honored at the 32nd Annual John Wayne Cancer Institute Odyssey Ball, known for its cancer research.

At the event, Vince Vaughn was honored by receiving the “True Grit Humanitarian Award.”

Vince Vaughn shared in his acceptance speech, that he had two close family members who lose their lives to cancer. This makes the impact of what the Institute does even closer to his heart. 

He is inspired by the Institute, and cares deeply about his working relationship with the good work that they are doing there. He is glad to support them in any way he can. 

Vince Vaughn went on to share his reflections on what John Wayne had meant to him as an actor. Vaughn shared, “He was such a part of the American culture. I definitely watched all his movies growing up, and I really saw him as such an iconic man onscreen. It’s funny- my makeup artist, Bruce Grayson, his father was John Wayne’s [makeup artist], and he has nothing but great things to say about him. Just how kind he was and considerate.” 

It was a heartfelt reflection on the genuine person that John Wayne was, memorializing him and all that has been done for other cancer patients in his memory. 

Vaugn was honored alongside Dr. Steven J. O’Day, who was awarded “The Duke” Special Services Award as he works to develop new, life saving cancer therapies.

The live auction that night raised thousands of dollars for the Institute, and the gala alone has raised over $19 million in the last thirty years. 

It is an impressive event that sponsors and supports incredible cancer research, and we are impressed by Vince Vaughn’s heavy affiliation with it. With such a strong foundation, the future of cancer research and effective treatments can only improve from here.
